Anniversary of Easter Shooting

It has been a year since the fatal shooting at a house party on Easter that killed Carbondale musician Tim Beaty.

Beaty was asleep in the house next door when a bullet went through the wall and killed him.

One of the three men accused of firing guns at the party was in Jackson County Court yesterday.

Dwayne Dunn Jr. appeared in court yesterday and entered an open plea of guilty to unlawful discharge of a firearm. Dunn is said to have fired a gun into the air that endangered the safety of others at the party. His was not the gun that fired the bullet that killed Beaty.

Dunn’s plea was part of a plea bargain that would drop the second charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

Dunn faces up to three years in prison. His sentencing hearing is May 24 at 10:30 a.m.
